On 1 November 2018, GOAABA presented a complimentary CLE featuring guest speaker A. Michelle Jernigan, Esq. of Upchurch Watson White & Max Mediation, on the topic “Negotiating Around and Through Minefields in Mediation.” Ms. Jernigan provided invaluable information on how to prepare for the negotiations that occur in the mediation process. On 3 November 2018, GOAABA hosted a family-friendly event volunteering at the United Against Poverty Center, providing groceries to people in need. Keeping along with the volunteering train, GOAABA also volunteered at the Youth Enrichment and Senior Services (“YESS”) Center, where its members provided elderly members of YESS with advice on wills, trusts and probate law.
On 5 November 2018, the law firm of Nelson Mullins Broad & Cassel hosted GOAABA’s members at the Magic v. Cavaliers game, where members enjoyed each other’s company and invited members of other voluntary bar associations to join. It was a great night — the Magic won.
To kick off the holiday season, on 5 December 2018 GOAABA held its Holiday Party at Dragonfly Robata Grill & Sushi, where many past presidents and previous board members caught up with current members and made donations and toys to IMPOWER, a non-profit mental health and child well-being organisation.
Next on tap, on 9 December 2018 GOAABA is having its holiday dinner with the Youth Empowerment and Support Services (“YESS”) organisation at Kobe, where board member Avita Samaroo, Esq. will present a CLE on auto accidents and how to use a smart phone at the event.
